Blaakyum was born in the summer of 1995, started as an amateur garage band, by 1997 it has taken it's music more seriously and evolved into a Heavy/Doom Metal band. Releasing its only single "Am I Black" in 1998. A song that reached many beyond Blaakyum's expectations and knowledge. Till this day Am I Black remain a song loved not only by the older Lebanese Metal Generation, but the new scene as well (Still to the astonishment of the band)
in 1997 Blaakyum won the Battle of the Bands in Beirut Mariot Hotel, and gathered a faithful following that was obvious in their first major appearance in the first Rock Nation 2001 in Lebanon. Shortly after that the band split after passing through 5 major line up changes, and many other minor one.

Seven years later Bassem Deaibess (Original Founder) reformed the band with a completely new line up. By the end of 2007 Blaakyum had won the Lebanese Nationals in the GBOB (Global Battle Of the Bands) and represented Lebanon in London, being the only Middle Eastern and the only Metal band in the competition, it was satisfying that they ended in the 7th place out of all the 3000 bands who participated in the GBOB and the 35 finalist bands.
Fate had it that Blaakyum performed in the last Rock Nation festival in 2008, by that time Blaakyum had entered the studio to record their debut album (little did the band know that this process will take over three years) but then Blaakyum passed through another major line up change, as the Guitarist and Drummer had left the band for various reasons. That change halted the recording process for over 3 years.

The final recording process kicked of by mid 2011. Blaakyum released it's Debut album "Lord Of The Night" on Friday the 13th of January 2012 (16 years after the band's first concert). The album received high rated reviews from Lebanese, Middle Eastern and Western webzines and internet radios.

Blaakyum is supported it's release by a general tour, "Night Lords" Tour that held dates in the Middle East, Europe and a Lebanese section of the tour called :"The First In Line Lebanon Tour" which is an event that occurred for the first time ever in Lebanon. Blaakyum was the first Lebanese Metal band to ever perform in Cairo, the first Lebanese Metal band to tour around Lebanon (instead of performing only in Beirut) and the first independent unsigned band to organise it's own East European tour performing in Metal Heads' Mission 2012 in Ukraine, Metal Camp 2012 Slovenia, and play gigs in Slovakia and Poland.
Blaakyum's tour was received positively by the media especially in Poland where they were interviewed on more than one Polish Radio and were featured in numerous printed and online magazines.
