Highlights:  Deceased Ambience, Reconstruction of Soul and Matter

As the world sinks inside the vortex of the mainstream extreme metal music, many groups around the world are keeping their efforts original and genuine, one of these groups is the black metal band "Thy Darkened Shade" that rises from the dark shadows of Greece, the debut album "Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs" that they released washes away all the mediocre plastic black metal releases and reminds us of the original tough black metal sound of the early 90s.

Though this is the debut album for this band, the band has been created long time ago (in 1999), which means that the band have cooked these eight tracks very well and it took more than ten years for them to produce such a complex and mature black metal sound. World Terror Committee have promised us with a black metal band that has the lust to burn the black metal scene with a very solid debut album, and this promise was twisting around the primordial black metal sound that the band "Thy Darkened Shade" can create, the infernal cascading riffs that have the spirit of "Marduk" and the dynamic distorted chords that have the spirit of "Darkthrone" made me remember the immenseness of the albums "Nightwing" and "Transilvanian Hunger", even the hazy production that full of misty sounds have the ability to get you back to the old era of the black metal movement.

Many tracks actually caught my attention here, the coarse deadly blastbeats of the track "Deceased Ambience" and the rapid killing riffs of the track "Reconstruction of Soul and Matter", the drumming that pounds the feelings of this album are totally unholy and murderous, especially the sounds of the crashes and the ride that sink inside the fabric of the songwriting. Many tracks "Narrow Fields of Life" and "The Great Serpent Self" are mixtures of a lot of black metal bands, many Nargaroth feelings and many "Satyricon" touches exist in this record, some atmospheric touches have been added to some tracks like "To Suffer the Perpetual Curses" and "The Clandestine Insight of Immorality" that helped to make the songs to be more deeper and darker.

Overall, as this year presented a lot of great black metal albums for us, there are a lot of albums are here to be discovered, so if you have the passion to sink through the original sound of the black metal that has the classic cold production and the inextricable extreme riffs, then you must have this CD in your library, but if you prefer the modern black metal sound with high production and melodic textures, then you have to turn your face away from here. Many black metal fans around the world are not aware of the extreme metal scene of Greece, I guess only some bands like "Rotting Christ" and "Septic Flesh" have involved to the global extreme metal movement, but today here is the band "Thy Darkened Shade" is presenting a solid release that can make the name of the band present on the global black metal lists.
