Its really boring to see most of the black metal releases nowadays sound the same and don't have any fresh ideas to make the structure of the music genuine and creative, and this what makes the sound that the French black metal band Acarus Sarcopt special, because the fresh ideas and the melodic essence of the tracks make every track superb and enjoyable.
The band has recently released the compilation "The First Day With No Sun", it contains of two disks. The first disk in this compilation contains the debut album of this band, nine original tracks and a cover for the song "As Fire Swept Clean The Earth" for the Norwegian masters Enslaved. There are a lot of words I actually want to write to describe this amazing music, but some of the melodies are really hard to describe with words, so I just advise every black metal listener to sink inside every track and discover the beauty of every track. Many vocal techniques and a lot melodic guitar sections are floating on the surface of the music, tracks like "The First Day With No Sun" and "The Alpha Crime" are my favorite because the volume of solid riffs are enough to blow my mind away. To be honest, I didn't enjoy every track in this disk, but most of the tracks are really admirable and memorable, especially the wicked lead guitar sections that try mix many musical textures in the same track. An ancient statue is holding the sun on his back, this is what I exactly see on the artwork of the album, this genius idea gave me more admirable feelings toward every track in this release.
The second disk contains the the demos that the band has recorded since 2001 until 2009, these 14 tracks have a lot of influences and visions. The only problem that I have found in this disk is the quality and the mastering of the vocals, though the general sound of the guitars is tough and solid, the mastering of the vocals was somehow annoying. Every track in this disk presents memorable and deep songwriting, especially the tracks "Oppressive Burning Times" and "Ambiance". I enjoyed the first disk more than the second disk because the materials that have been prepared for the first disk are more mighty and malicious, and also its production is more enjoyable for the black metal fans, but that doesn't mean that you must ignore the second disk, there are a lot of interesting elements and so many powerful blast beats live in this disk to explode your ears immediately. If you don't care about the production of the black metal tracks, the you would like the second disk more than the first disk.
In general, I mostly enjoyed every track in this compilation, so if you consider yourself as a loyal black metal fan then you have to give this release a listen, because this release simply mixes the sound of the melodic metal with the toughness of the black metal and the result that the band presents is bewitching. The fast riffs and the blast beats are not created for those who search for soft black metal releases, the real elements and the firm materials have been created here to break your nick. Get your copy now and enjoy the epic atmosphere that the members tried to produce.
