The first impression you will get, its fucken filled with surprises, each song differ that the other, each song is from a diff genre, it like a compilation but from one band, and despite this might make you think that this will make the album without an identity, its not!! cause we are talking about "Firzone" ladies and gentlemen, a new band hailing from Netherland, and the name should be familliar to you since they had played Dubai few months ago, in Metal Asylum Festival.
"Welcome To The Firezone", the band debut EP , is one hell of a ride, the band start with a groovy tunes in " Social Pathology" and " Balcony of Terror" , with the later the band vocalist BEF Siersema add his touch with his wacky voices. While these songs just fit that small bar where the smell of beer and sweat mix in the moshpit, the next song "Part by Part" just take off into another direction totally, its getting doomy , slow passed riffs, drums, Keyboards melodies, and with another great performance by Siersema, with his vocals remind me of the late David Gold of Woods of Ypres.
The EP last 2 songs, "Wake Up" & "Westerling" , the band get back into the heavier side, while keep putting some out of the box ideas again, some punk touches, some hip hop in the Anthrax "I'm The Man" way.
This an EP that worth listening for sure, cause it will give you a collection of songs that you wouldn't expect to get it in one EP unless it would be a compilation of different bands, or for a band with long history of experimenting over the genre. All in all, it's a solid debut for "Firezone", it shows great musicianship, great performance by the band, all this promises that we are listening to a band that have all the skills required to have a solid name of their own within the vast metal scene, but may be they need to narrow it down in terms of genres!
