TYR - Liv Kristine To Guest On New Album, Part Ways With Drummer

In March, Faroe Islands epic folk metallers Týr announced that they would start recording their new album this month and now the band confirmed that Leaves' Eyes singer Liv Kristine is joining them for a duet on the song "The Lay Of Our Love" on their upcoming album (title still to be revealed), set to be released this fall. According to Liv, the track has "inspiring melodies and lyrics, proving the authenticity of Týr." This guest appearance makes sense since the new album will be about women.

Heri Joensen released this last update on the recording process: "Second week of studio over. We're done with rhythm guitars and the bass, and we've started on solos and vocals. Solos for 3 songs and vocals for 6 songs done. Now I need to write some lyrics like there's no tomorrow!"

In other news, the band also decided to part ways with long time drummer Kári Streymoy who suffered a back injury in 2008 and has had problems ever since. Týr promise a surprise for his replacement.

Statement released by the band: "Kári suffered a back injury in 2008, and since then he has had some issues with his drumming. That is the main reason that the co-operation has been problematic for some time now, and we finally decided to part ways. We want to thank Kári for his time in the band. It's been great to have you with us, we wish you the best of luck in the future and we hope you recover fully some day. More details to follow on who we got to fill in for Kári in studio. I think most of you are in for a big surprise."
